America 3000 (1986)

It's 900 years after nuclear war has shattered civilization, and a primitive new society has risen from the ashes. Now the tables have turned completely, as women rule with an iron fist while men are reduced to "seeder" slaves and helpless playthings. In this fierce matriarchal world, male rebellion seems impossible—until now.

At the ruins of an ancient military bunker, a rebellious young man discovers a hidden stash of 21st century weaponry. With a newly formed army of renegade men armed to the teeth, he challenges the beautiful but merciless warrior queen of the Thunder Women. A brutal battle ensues as the queen's cavalry of female martial arts warriors squares off against the male rebels and their arsenal of grenades and guns, with the future of humanity at stake.

Directed by David Engelbach, who also penned exploitation favorites Death Wish 2 and Over the Top, this campy post apocalyptic adventure boasts surprising production values and plenty of absurd humor. Keep an eye out for "Aargh the Awful," a furry mutant resembling a miniature Bigfoot who has an unusual love for blasting '80s rock music from an ancient boom box. America 3000 remains a delightfully absurd gem from the golden age of apocalyptic cinema.
