Dark Age (1987)

A massive saltwater crocodile is attacking and killing local residents at an alarming rate in Australia's northern region.  With its vast land of interconnecting billabongs, swamps, and rivers, the crocodile has easily remained elusive between attacks.

The government sends a ranger in to hunt down and kill the giant crocodile, but he finds himself at odds with the local Aborigines.  They believe the crocodile contains the spirit of their past, and want the goliath-sized beast preserved, despite its continued killing of  people.

Arch Nicholson directs this entertaining Ozploitation version of Jaws with great Australian actor John Jarratt (Wolf Creek) starring as the ranger.
