Killers Are Our Guests, The (1974)

After a messy jewelry heist in Milan, three cold-blooded crooks hit the road with a bag full of stones and a bleeding man in the back seat. When things go sideways, they hole up in a secluded villa in the countryside, taking the unsuspecting couple inside hostage while they wait for the gang's top boss to arrive. What starts as a simple hideout quickly turns into a boiling pot of secrets, seduction, and paranoia.

The tension rises with every whispered conversation and sideways glance. One of the robbers is losing blood fast, the woman of the house has eyes that don’t miss a thing, and the ringleader’s girlfriend might be playing her own game. The longer they wait, the more everyone’s true nature starts to crack through the surface. Someone’s going to snap. The only question is who—and how many bullets it’ll take to settle the score.

Directed by Vincenzo Rigo, this slow-burn Italian thriller serves up gritty suspense, sweaty close-ups, and a cast of cult legends. Anthony Steffen brings the steel-eyed cool, Margaret Lee heats things up, and Luigi Pistilli simmers with quiet menace. A must for fans of The Italian Connection and Almost Human, this is '70s Eurocrime with a knife under the table and a gun behind every door.
